The Integraspec blog!
I actually saw the following notice in the toilet of a renewable energy company I visited recently! Whilst it's a strange place to put this sort of thing it certainly brought home to me the scale of the challenge ahead of us all.
We really want to get the message out that the sooner we start building low energuy homes, whichever way we decide to categorise them, the better. It doesn't really matter whether they are Code level 6, or Passiv Haus (Passive House even) or sustainable in their description as long as they help to alleviate the problems currently being created. Public awareness and education on the issue is critical. House buyers need to understand the implications of putting up with houses that are not correctly built, in the case of new build or maintained, in the case of the existing housing stock. Perhaps the following facts will help to illuminate the issue!
